Courses completed - Introduction Into Office Skills Diploma
I found my time at Pitman Training very nice because I left college and started here – and felt immediately welcome, which is a good thing! I do have to say Pitman is a very very good training environment to be at, and you can learn a lot from being here. Not only do you learn from what your studying here, but from the people that run it, maybe I should call them the teacher’s, to me they were like friends. |

Courses completed - Business Text Processing Diploma “When I first got told about Pitman Training I was really nervous, at first, and didn’t think I would be able to complete the course. It has built my confidence and I have really enjoyed being in this environment. I am so glad I can leave Pitman Training with all my new skills, I now feel I can improve my career prospects with these skills.” Sophie also achieved an equivalent A-C grade in Literacy during her time here. |

Courses completed - Business Text Processing Diploma Since learning with Pitman Training Kent, I have learnt many valuable skills, such as legal secretary and receptionist skills and how to touch type. I am going to try and further my career from the skills I have gained, by applying for a job in a legal office. I enjoyed the learning independently, as opposed to listening to a teacher, as I find it easier to keep track of the work I’m doing. I didn’t really enjoy anything in particular – as I enjoyed everything! |
| Courses completed - ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN DIPLOMA Prior to Pitman - UNEMPLOYED MUM OF 2 YEAR OLD SON How they got the job - STARTED HER OWN BUSINESS |
Once my son was born, I realized that I wanted to get back to work and do something for myself. I had always dreamed of owning my own business but didn’t have the confidence or know how to go about it. After conducting some research and speaking with other organizations to no avail, I was given the number of Pitman Training Chatham by the local Job Centre. I immediately called and booked an appointment to discuss my options, within no time I had been assisted in selecting the Accounting Technician Diploma, and enrolled straight away. The assistance I have been given by Dee and her staff is amazing, not just with the course itself, but encouragement too, keeping me motivated, when there were times I became unsure of myself. I completed the Accounting technician Diploma to Distinction, which is a huge achievement in itself, but was also encouraged to complete the IAB exams (Institute of Associated Book-Keepers), which I took at Pitman Training Chatham, I am now an IAB Associate. In April 2009, my dream became a reality when I opened my own accounting company E & H Accounting Services, I now provide accounting and book-keeping services to small and medium sized businesses and self employed businesses in the Chatham and High Halstow areas. I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Dee and all the staff at Pitman Training Chatham, for helping turn my dream in to a reality. |
Courses completed - Secretarial Diploma |
Dawn came to us through the Lone Parent advisor at Maidstone Jobcentre in need of some up to date office skills in order to get back into an office environment after several years looking after her children. Dawn’s confidence in herself was very low, but her studies made her much more confident and she was able to secure a job at the end of her diploma in an admin role at Sittingbourne Hospital. Dawn was over the moon about her new skills and the fact that she was able to gain employment so soon after completing her studies. |

Just a quick email to thank you, Lyn, Raza, Ryan and Sarah for all your help and support during my time at Pitman Training Tunbridge Wells. After being made redundant in June it gave me the opportunity to have a career change. I had been meaning to do this for a while and the redundancy gave me the push to do my PA and Medical Secretary training and get the career I wanted. Although this was a daunting thought at the time I would not have got my great new job without it. A week after I finished my training I had an email from Guy's Hospital saying that I had been selected for interview. I was 1 of 10 being interviewed and didn't think I stood a chance against the others who had experience in this sort of role. However, a few hours after my interview I had a phone call telling me that I had the job! They told me that one of the reasons I had been offered the job is because I had done my Pitman training. I will be working as PA to the Head of Training in the Radiology department. I will also provide administrative support for all aspects of the management of the trainee junior doctors within this department. The role sounds extremely interesting and varied and all aspects of my training will be used. I will keep in touch and let you how I am getting on when I have started the job and been there a few weeks. Thank you once again. All the best Sarah Stephens |
| Courses completed - Exec PA and Legal diplomas Prior to Pitman - Various roles How they got the job - Internet |
Rosie was unsure of what direction to take when she came to us. On completing her diplomas she went to temp for Brook Street, and won an award for Temp of the Year. She has had various temporary and contract roles, but now works as HR Assistant for Kent Probation Area. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and help whilst I completed my PA and Legal secretarial diplomas. Without these qualifications I would not have been able to gain my past and my most recent role as Human Resources Assistant at Kent Probation Area. The skills I have gained are invaluable and without the teams backing I would not have stayed motivated. Thank you so much for all you have done.” |
